Rough Riders - Stars Roy Rogers
This is a Roy Rogers film using the Rough Riders structure and includes Eddie Acuff (until he is killed early in the film) and regular Raymond Hatton.
...
Actually, Hatton gets as much screen tie as Rogers, but that's another story regarding film promotion. Its a decent plot - Americans dressed as Mexicans are stealing gold shipments and taking them to safety across the Mexican Border. To further complicate matters, the mine producing the gold is already in Mexico. And, it seems that somebody is leaking info to the bad guys. Lynne Roberts plays the mine owner's pretty daughter on her way to Mexico to marry George Meeker, the mine foreman. Dorothy Sebastian is good as the slightly older scorned secretary to Meeker. The bad guys, all seasoned at their work, include William Pawley and uncredited George Chesebro, Merrill McCormick, Bud Osborne, Glenn Strange and others. Rogers sings a few songs, has a fight or two and rides back and forth. IMDb says its a 58:00 film, but we get 53+ here. A good, early Roy Rogers B western.
